Here at First Christian Church we believe that the Children are not only the future of the church, but also the present; because without them there is no future!! With saying that, we have a variety of classes on Sunday as well as Thursday night to help them on their growth towards building a relationship with God.
We value your children knowing that they deserve the best! At GFCC, we teach our children manners and how to behave within a Christian setting. In addition, we teach them Bible Stories, as well as other Bible lessons. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us. We hope that you check out our Children's page by clicking on the link, and reading all about what we have to offer YOUR child!
Elderberries
The Elderberries is a ministry dedicated for anyone 55 years or over and retired. Those members who are in this ministry will enjoy spending time with other young-at-hearts through activities and fellowship. Come check us out!
We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month. We also have meetings and parties at the church. We also plan outings and events. If you have any questions, E-mail Melissa Rothchild for more information.
Fellowship Ministry
We like to think of our Ministry as "Family," "Food," and "Fun." We plan fun events for our family, which will always include good food! Some of our activities include hosting Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinners, Palm Sunday Brunch, as well as a Christmas Party or the Pastor Appreciation Potluck. We also plan for Movie Nights at GFCC, as well as plan fun events for the kids like Trunk or Treat! We coordinate plans for going out as well. Our trips include bowling events, watching the Bulls, White Sox, or the Railcats, and even going out on a Family Camping Trip! There are plenty of other ideas that we have done in the past as well, the possibilities seem endless!
Our ministry is basically here to plan, schedule, coordinate, and run social events for our Church family. One of our main goals are to introduce the un-churched and those who are visiting to a loving, Christian atmosphere. And just so you know, we are always looking for new ministry members! If thinking and implementing plans for our Church family to get together and have some fun sounds like a ministry that interests you, then please contact us!
Finance
The finance ministry is the accountants and bill managers that work behind the scenes to keep the doors physically open. Without money, the church cannot function to its highest potential. Those who work in the Finance Ministry, led by Mike Kubacki, are in charge of making sure the money flows to it's needed location. This includes necessary support to missions, to projects, and to our bills at GFCC.
We keep a monthly budget, as well as a yearly one; and we stick to it as closely as possible. In these hard times, we have to be extra cautious as to knowing where your money goes, so it can benefit the Kingdom of God most. If you have any questions for us or concerns, please let us know by sending us an email. Thanks!
Men's Ministry
Our Men's Ministry is dedicated to helping men be the godly men God calls us to be. A godly man is a servant, not a slavemaster. Being a spiritual leader does not mean dominating your family. It means serving your family, and being a godly example to your wife and children.
I have heard a saying, it says, "As go the men, so goes the family and so goes the church." We as men are the born leaders of today. Our job is to protect our family, to serve our family, and to show other men how to be godly leaders. Proverbs 27:17 says "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."
We are called to sharpen each other; to bring each other up, not tear each other down. We are all hurt, living in this hurting world. It is this ministry that brings men together, from all facets of life, and allows them to build upon one another, and to strengthen one another. For the good of their families, for the good of the church, and for the goodness of GOD.
If you want to get involved in this ministry, please contact us. We'd love to have you.
Missions
Our Missions Ministry follows the challenges and victories of the missionaries we support, and helps them in every way possible. We spread God's word around the world by giving financial help to people willing to travel and teach. Many of these people actually live in countries where they teach!
Our Mission Statement is "To support through prayer and finances, our missionaries spreading the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the world." We also like to support our congregational members who are led to go on missions related trips. Throughout all of our endeavors, we strive to support the needs of our church, our community, and our world.
Outreach Ministry
Our Outreach Ministry is a front leader for our church, dedicated to using communication and outreach tools as well as ideas and events. We exist to reach the people of this world, of this community, to Christ Jesus.
If you have any questions for us, or would like to contact us to get involved or ask for more information, please send us an email. God Bless!
Performance Ministry
The Performance Ministry enhances the worship service with relevant drama, dance, or music performances. Seasonal performances are presented throughout the year in the evenings. Our mission is to present Biblical truths through the media of our performances.
We are mere stagehands for the Main Character in the drama of life. HIS Stagehands is an adult performance ministry, while HIS Stagehands Jr. is available for children ranged from Preschool up through 5th grade. If you have any questions or a desire to join this ministry, please feel free to contact us.
Praise & Edification
The P & E Ministry is responsible for the various functions of a Sunday service. The divisions include the beautification of the sanctuary, the preparation and serving of communion and tithe, any assistiance needed during baptism, as well as the music department, which includes singers, musicians, sound/screen technicians. The ministry is also responsible for recognition and promotion of military or other special occasions.
Our mission is to lead those in attendance to an inspiring and orderly experience of worship through tradtional and conterporary/modern music with other various services in a family oriented atmosphere. Please look at our music page to see a few songs that we sing, as well as a list at the bottom (along with the second playlist) that shows you what songs we will be singing within the next month. If you have any questions or wish to join in one of our divisions of this ministry, please feel free to contact us.
Preschool
At First Christian Church Preschool, we strive to instill a love of learning in your child, while building their self-esteem and teaching them Christian values. We value YOU as a very important part of your child's education! All of our classes that we teach will have gym, music, and show & tell. Your child will make new friends, learn to play with others, and have fun! All of our teachings are taught within a Christian setting.
For more information about our preschool, check out our preschool page by clicking on the link, or send us an email with your question or concern. If you are an interested parent looking for a place to send your kid to grow and become prepared for Kindergarten, we hope you contact us soon! We'd love to hear from you!
Property
As a yolk needs an egg shell, so a church needs a property. Not to survive, but to protect it from the harsh physical environments of the summer heat, or the blistering winter cold. We as members of the Property Ministry strive to do all that we can to keep our building and its surrounding property in tip-top shape. If the boiler "quits" on us, we are there. If a room is being painted, you will see us. If the lawn needs mowed or the sidewalks need shoveled, that's our job. We maintain an eye out for the cleanliness and the working order of everything that deals with the church building.
Led by Jimmy Sopher, the Property Ministry spends its time working in and around the church, finding jobs in every which place. If painting, shoveling, mowing, cleaning, and moving around sounds like a job that you may be interested in, then we have LOTS of projects! Send us an email to let us know you are interested. We can always find a job! ;)
Small Groups
In Seoul, South Korea, there is a nondenominational church that hosts over 800,000 members WEEKLY. Do you know how it got to be so huge? It all started with Small Groups. The Small Groups Ministry is dedicated to overseeing the various small groups, or cell groups, within the church. A small group is just what it sounds like - a Small. Group. But what is so revolutionary about small groups is that they are more than just a group, it is a mini bible study, prayer session, and help group all wrapped up into one. People learn about the Good News, pray with one another, and help each other through their daily lives. This is a great way to introduce new members into a loving and caring church family like we have here at GFCC!
There are many small groups that are beneficial to those within. Check back shortly for a list of some small groups, or ask around. In fact, you can always send us an email saying that you are interested in joining a small group, and we can help find one that will fit YOUR needs! We hope to hear from you soon!

The purpose of J.O.L.T. is to love God, Love Others, and Spread the Gospel and with saying that, each week we try to incorporate one of those things into our youth group time. Each week is different to enable the youth to find ways to Love God, Love Others, and Spread the Gospel on their own and to learn how to make that a part of their lives.

Second Sunday of the month - Youth group is from 5:30 - 7:30 and this night is spent doing service projects around the town, anywhere from spending time with the elderly, to raking leaves or plowing snow.
Third Sunday of the month - Youth group is from 5:30 - 7:30. This night is used as a night of praising God and worship and splitting off into small groups to go through scenarios on how to talk to others about God.
Fourth Sunday of the month - Youth group is from 5:30 - 7:30. This night is a night of FUN!!! we use this night to invite your friends and have a great time!!
